Fun Finds

Sometimes I find things that I really love and I like to talk about that here. My “fun finds” are NOT sponsored or otherwise compensated sponsored message. hehe.  My fun finds are things that I love and I hope you will love too!

So let’s get this party started:

There is a nice haul of gorgeous roma tomatoes in northern California right now at one of my favorite stores, The Grocery Outlet.  These are nicer than the romas I’ve seen at Whole Foods and are only 4 for $1 !!!  They dry up nicely in the dehydrator and work great in any raw recipe calling for tomato.  In raw recipes, these have given the most “cooked” flavor of any of the others I’ve picked up anywhere. Ok, they aren’t organic, but heck, I like to save money and have great produce; wash your tomatoes well, is my advice.

When I first started going raw back in March, I spent a lot of time studying; and don’t be fooled, raw food cuisine requires study and commitment.   There are great sites out there with oodles of recipes and technique descriptions to get you started.

One of my first questions when I started learning about raw food cuisine really seemed so obvious to me: Raw food cuisine is prepared in the danger zone of food temperatures. The temperatures that bacteria are most lively and reproductive are the exact same temperatures as that tasty raw taco you are eating now.  ;)
