I Love My KitchenAid

Yes, yours truly is one of the lucky ones. My husband bought me one of those pretty pink “Cook for the Cure” KitchenAid stand mixers for my birthday last year, I use it all the time and it still runs like it is brand new.

Cook for the Cure® Artisan® Stand Mixer Pink

But you say… Ms. Fatty, stand mixers are for FAIL WHALES. Cakes, cookies, bread.. FAIL FAIL FAIL

Not so fast! For the Fatty that has sworn off boxed, canned, processed and fast foods, one of these stand mixers is an valuable tool for saving time in the kitchen. They have scads of different attachments that you can get for these things, like a food grinder, food processor, ice cream (ice yogurt) maker etc etc etc.  With the handy-dandy food grinder I can make low cal vegan burgers that will knock your socks off. With the mixer I can make perfect low-cal breads in just the right portion sizes, with no added “dough conditioners” or other crud they put in pre-packaged bread. Great for mixing the batter for those low-cal tamales, beating egg whites for almost no-cal meringue cookies. And angel food cake? You know angel food cake is the fatty’s friend!

I love these pink workhorses. I have pink and black granite counters in the kitchen, so this thing not only makes my weight loss easier, but it matches just perfectly.  They do come in an array of colors to match any decor, of course.  Let me know if you have one of these and what you think about it.

I wanted a Kitchenaid forever but could never afford to bend my budget to get one…then one day in 1996 my husband and I were at an estate sale, I beelined it for the kitchen. I figured since this house had not been updated since the 50′s or 60′s at best I just KNEW this woman had a Kitchenaid at in that kitchen! To my disappointment there was no mixer in that kitchen at all…so I meandered around the rest of the house and finally went out to the garage to look around…and I looked up on a shelf in the garage…and there on the back of that shelf was an olive green Kitchenaid Mixer…The guy in charge of the sale saw me looking at it, I said to him, “I want that” and his response was, “I don’t know if it works.” I told him I didn’t care, I wanted it, the woman behind me said if she doesn’t want it , I do. I assured her I wanted it, working or not. He pulled it down and the cord did not have a ground plug on it, he told me he didn’t think there was much hope, so I asked him what he wanted for it, he looked at it, shrugged and said “$10.00.” I plugged it and and it whirred to life! It was one of the biggest rush’s of my life!!!!! I am still using it, infact, I just made two batches of pizza dough. All I have ever had to do was replace the wisk. I love that mixer, If I ever have to replace it I will get the “for the cure” pink one. I bet this mixer is from the late 50′s or early 60′s and it works AWESOME!!!!! I love my Kitchenaid Mixer!!!!!
